  • The following are required for lessons:

    · An acoustic piano with 88 keys and working pedals (or a digital piano with 88 weighted keys and a sustain pedal)

    · High-speed internet connection

    · Two Wi-Fi-enabled devices with camera (a smartphone + laptop, tablet, etc.)

    · Any assigned books, music, or other materials (The minimum amount spent is around $50 per year, on average.)

  • School-aged students are placed in a group of students that are of similar age and ability for Group Classes that occur virtually and meet several times throughout the year.

School-aged students are also highly encouraged to participate in OMTA District and State Achievement Auditions and Theory Exams in the spring, and there are various other festivals and events that occur throughout the year that are typically available. Many students choose to take part in these events, but participation is ultimately optional.

ENROLLMENT

  • Enrollment information that is specific to the current term is made available during a prospective student’s free initial consultation. Otherwise, enrollment information is available by request only.

Please feel free to reach out with questions or for additional information.

  • It’s not always obvious what tuition covers, and there’s probably a lot more to it than you’d think!

  • For enrollment consideration, please start by submitting the form on this page.

When openings are available, prospective students are offered and required to schedule a free, virtual Meet & Greet via Zoom to help determine whether it is a good fit before making the commitment to lessons. Enrollment information specific to the current term is made available during this free initial consultation.

After interviewing for placement in the studio, upon acceptance, students are invited to register for lessons. The submission of registration holds/reserves a spot in the studio’s schedule for the student. Lessons can begin after tuition is submitted.

MUST-READ ARTICLES

All prospective students/parents should read the articles below before enrolling in piano lessons with me, as they communicate a great deal about my beliefs and philosophy.  Excerpts and links to the full articles are below.

  • The Truth About Piano Lessons

    • A piano teacher looks at what it takes to succeed in music, why parents should care, and what they can do to help their kids.

  • Make-Up Lessons From An Economist’s Point of View

    • “I’m a parent of children enrolled in Suzuki music lessons.  I’d like to explain to other parents why I feel – quite strongly, actually – that it is unreasonable of we parents to expect our teachers to make up lessons we miss, even if I know as well as they do just how expensive lessons are, and, equally importantly, how important that weekly contact is with the teacher to keeping practicing ticking along smoothly.  I think that it is natural for we parents to share the point of view that students should have their missed lessons rescheduled, but if we were to ‘walk a mile’ in our teachers’ shoes, we might change our minds about what it is reasonable for us to expect of our teachers.”
